Chase found this piece of metal in Silver Lake, Wisconsin this spring - it is actually a piece of a gun (can you see the 40 S&W?). We were very intrigued, since it looked like someone sawed through the metal to destroy it. We took it to the Silver Lake Police Department, where the officer confirmed it was from a gun and told us that there should be a serial number on it (but there wasn't). Bottom line - it was probably used in a crime, but there is no way to trace it, so the story probably ends there. But it provided a little excitement for us.-
